Parsons Brinckerhoff

Parsons Brinckerhoff is a global consulting firm assisting public and private clients to plan, develop, design, construct, operate and maintain critical infrastructure. Our business has over 14,000 technical experts operating in transportation, energy, rail, the environment and the built environment. These teams work together to ensure that communities and economies are safe, pleasant, and vibrant. Often we live and work in those same communities. We have over 125 years of engineering pedigree behind us, ensuring confidence and a track record in delivering and maintaining critical assets.

Our established Cardiff office delivers the Consultancy Services Framework contract for the South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) in the challenging and most heavily trafficked eastern region. Our staff live within this community and have a personal as well as professional commitment to maintain the road network, improve reliability and reduce congestion. We provide a range of specialist highway services to ensure that the connectivity with the economic hubs of Newport and Cardiff are maintained and enhanced for local communities and longer distance travellers from mid, west and north Wales, as well as links to England and Europe as this forms part of the Trans-European Network.

Our work requires us to undertake feasibility studies into local and major road network improvements, including their design, highway maintenance and inspection activities, looking after the strategically vital Gibraltar and Brynglas Tunnels, assessing the upkeep and maintenance of the various structures on the network, and undertaking other duties relating to aspects such as street lighting, information and communication systems, pollution and the environment. All of our activities focus on the need to deliver a safe, efficient and sustainable highway network for all road users and the general public, and deliver economic growth to the Welsh Economy.

Kim Jenkins, the Project Director, is charged with delivering this service to the SWTRA, from our Cardiff office, and brings Parsons Brinckerhoff's innovation and best practise to bear from our previous similar commissions and our extensive knowledge of the strategic motorway and trunk road network. SWTRA's eastern region extends from the Severn Bridge Crossings through to Junction 32 of the M4 and northwards to include the southern Brecon Beacons and across to Abergavenny and Monmouth. It includes the M48, A48(M), A449, A4042, A446 and the A40.
